That was brave and an eloquent speech too, considering how spur of the moment it was. It sounds from the film clip as if the audience gave you a round of applause, too, so maybe you've got them questioning their consciences.
Thanks very much for standing up and speaking out!

Hi Margaret. It was the Park Plaza Riverbank, by Lambeth Bridge. Even logging a complaint with their management would be something.

Hi Sam, good for you. Which hotel was it? I've a feeling my workplace might have booked Park Plaza venues before. We're a trade union so may be able to make a decision not to use them again on the basis of this, and let them know why. We're only a small union though, so no major impact, but every little helps, regards, Margaret

Well done, Jessie, for calling the candidates to account. London politicians should make it clear that DSEi, this immoral event that promotes conflict and human rights abuse, is not welcome in our city. The mayor and GLA have powers over transport, policing and emergency planning, so they must have some powers to stop it. As for the argument that 'if we do not do it, others will', I'm sure that argument must have been used against abolishing slavery....

I was in Egypt in December 2012 and watched horrific violence on the television of young demonstrators being violently assaulted and an interview with a young man blinded by security forces torturers in Cairo. We are not representing anything positive by arms sales to Middle East repressive regimes. How sad that David Cameron went to Saudi Arabia to sell arms, consider what their 'security forces' did to many hundreds of innocent people in Bahrain in 2011!
