Join the week of action against DSEI

Next week will see a major week of blockades and actions against the DSEI arms fair while it sets up at the Excel Centre in East London.

For four days in September 2017, the international weapons industry plans to set up shop in London at a huge arms fair, DSEI. The weapons sold here fuel the death, destruction and injustice perpetrated by militaries, police forces and at borders around the world.

In 2015, hundreds of people took part in a huge week of action to stop the set up of the arms fair – the biggest-ever protests against DSEI. For six days we blocked entrances, disrupting the set-up of the fair. This year the protests will be even bigger.

A huge and diverse movement will be converging on the Excel Centre next week, to block the military equipment from getting in and to shut down the arms fair before it can even get underway.

There will be blockades, actions and protests at the main entrances to DSEI all week, with a separate theme every day to highlight the deadly consequences of the arms trade. The week of action has been called by the Stop the Arms Fair network (which CAAT is part of).

There will be other actions happening during the week of DSEI, including Art the Arms Fair, a major art exhibition in London with art submitted by hundreds of artists, and Arming the World, a series of theatrical performances taking place across London.

If you’d like to join us in shutting down the arms fair you can follow the links above to find out how to get involved with any of the actions that are already being planned. But there are also plenty of other ways in which you can get involved from action support to getting creative to mobilising locally. Take a look at our home page for more information.

For a full list of actions planned, see our events page for more ways you can get stuck in!

War, repression and injustice start here. But so does our resistance. Let’s stop them here. #stopDSEI #stopthearmsfair
